COR Program

Abacus Steel is an active member of the Manufacturer’s Health and Safety Association. The company has maintained COR (Certificate of Recognition) certification since late 2009. This highly regarded safety certification is offered through a partnership between Alberta Employment and Immigration, certifying industry partners, and the employer. All Abacus Steel employees take great pride in our COR certification and strive to ensure an increasingly effective health and safety program.

COR certification is essential to the Alberta Workers Compensation Boards Partners in Injury Reduction program. Certification is issued only to employers who have successfully implemented and demonstrated an effective workplace health and safety management system. Certified programs are audited on an annual basis to ensure continued compliance with COR baseline requirements. All internal and independent audits are overseen by the appropriate certifying partner to review for compliance and quality standards.

Third Party (Contractor) Health, Safety & Environment

Abacus Steel Inc. is committed to the Health and Safety of all our employees as well as those impacted by our business. This commitment to safety is extended to all third party contractors.

The Abacus Health and Safety Manual is required to be used by all employees, individuals, and businesses working with Abacus.

Health And Safety Policy

This program does not cover all of the site-specific or project-specific health and safety issues that may arise. This manual and its requirements are in addition to the requirements of Alberta’s Occupational Health and Safety Act and other applicable regulations.
